The Marlin M1917 Early Type 1:32 (a pair) is a resin modeling accessory from the GasPatch models brand, two aircraft machine guns of the early version for models in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is not a kit of an aircraft but an aftermarket accessory from the Greek GasPatch models brand: a pair of separate Marlin M1917 machine guns in the early configuration, in 1:32 scale and in resin. The designation Early Type sets this version apart from the later M1918 configuration, which the manufacturer offers separately; the two versions differ in the shape of the barrel and of its cover, so it is a good idea to choose the one that matches the subject being built.
The Marlin M1917 is an American aircraft machine gun of 7.62 mm caliber, air-cooled, with gas taken from the barrel. It arose by the modification of an older infantry machine gun for installation in an aircraft, where it was mounted fixed and fired forward through the propeller disc with a synchronizing device. The design is deliberately slender, so that the weapon fits onto the fuselage ahead of the cockpit. The description keeps to the technical framework, with no account of its use.
Before building, wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, as otherwise paint would not hold on the remains of release agent. Cut the casting blocks off with a thin saw or a fresh blade and never break them off by twisting, as resin is hard and brittle. Sand wet and with protection for the breathing. It is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint thinly, so that the fine details are not clogged: a primer, a dark steel shade and a fine dry brush on the edges. A dark wash into the hollows will deepen the weapon optically, especially around the cooling jacket and the breech.
This is a modeling accessory, not a complete kit. The parts are supplied unpainted; glue, paints and the basic model are not included in the package.
