The O-2A is an observation and liaison aircraft derived from a twin-engine civil type, and its cabin is glazed on practically every side. In the large 1:32 scale that makes a model where the glazed area forms a substantial part of the fuselage. The basic grade of the mask set from the manufacturer New Ware offers cut self-adhesive parts for the main glazed surfaces. It is an aid for painting, not a part of a kit.
When a model has a large glazed area, it becomes the main viewing point. Every uneven line of a frame shows at first glance and cannot be hidden with patina or with a good finish. In a large scale the frames grow as well, so the crispness of an edge can be judged even without a magnifier. A cut mask holds a constant width, sits into the engraved lines of the part and, once off, leaves the glass perfectly transparent.
Extensive glazing means many parts, so set an order and work systematically, for instance side by side along the fuselage. Wash the clear part beforehand and let it dry in the air. On long straight frames, check that they run parallel to the edge of the part, as a slight twist adds up over a large area. Spray thinly and rather more than once; with masks the rule is that the crispness of an edge falls with a heavy coat. Lift the masks off once the paint has dried and check the glass against the light at the end, wiping any prints off dry.
The package holds only the mask set. A kit, paints and glue are not part of it.
