A set of paint masks from the Czech manufacturer AML in 1:32 scale, the third installment of the line devoted to American fighters that flew with Soviet national insignia during the Second World War. The Curtiss P-40C Tomahawk and the Bell P-39N Airacobra reached the Soviet Union under Allied deliveries, and the Airacobra in particular proved itself so well with the Soviet Air Force that a substantial part of its production ended up going there.
A hand-drawn boundary of a camouflage field or a national marking gives itself away at once on a large model in 1:32 scale. A paint mask holds the line exactly where it should be, and symmetrically on both sides of the model. Spraying with an airbrush through a mask gives a clean, thin layer of paint with no brush marks and no risk of the scheme wandering on a curved surface.
Degrease the surface before masking and let the base coat dry thoroughly. Press the mask down above all on the edges, spray square to the surface in several thin coats and lift it off before the paint has fully cured, as the edge then stays sharp and the base is not torn away. Store unused sections of the sheet on the original backing so that the adhesive does not dry out.
This is a modeling accessory; the set does not contain the aircraft kit, paints or glue.
