We emphasize that this is not a model of an aircraft nor a kit: it is a set of castings with which you complete a model you obtain separately.
The MIM-23 Hawk is a guided anti-aircraft missile originally intended for medium-range ground launch systems. The Iranian Air Force experimented with carrying it on the F-14, because a long-standing shortage of the original air-to-air armament forced it to look for a substitute. The result is an unusual combination: a large two-seat fighter with a missile under it that was designed to be launched from the ground. For a modeler it is an attractive subject precisely because it turns an ordinary Tomcat into an instantly recognizable and unmistakable piece of a collection.
First wash the resin parts in lukewarm water with dish soap or with alcohol, so that the mold release agent residue is removed; otherwise the paint will not adhere. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a cutting disc and never break them off. Sand the resin wet and with respiratory protection, because the dust is fine and irritating. They are attached with cyanoacrylate glue; ordinary cement for polystyrene will not join resin. On a long slender missile it is a good idea to check the straightness of the casting before gluing and to correct any bend by warming it in warm water. Apply a filler primer before painting; it will also reveal small bubbles to be filled. A fine wash will bring out the sharp edges of the fins.
