About product

Eduard Big Ed 1:32 North American F-100F Super Sabre — part one

Big Ed is a pack from the Czech maker Eduard in which several separate accessories for one particular model are brought together under a single item number. The customer therefore does not have to put the individual sets together himself. This item is the first part of the pack for a model of the F-100F Super Sabre in 1:32 scale; the second part is sold separately, because the extent of the accessories for a large scale does not fit into one package.

The real subject

The North American F-100 Super Sabre was an American jet aircraft of the 1950s, following on in design terms from the Sabre line. The F-100F version is a two-seater with two seats one behind the other and with the corresponding changes to the cockpit and the canopy. It is exactly the second cockpit and the longer forward fuselage that are most visible when a model is built in 1:32 scale, so interior accessories make sense on this version.

Building tips

Cut the photo-etched parts on a hard surface with a sharp knife and sand the remains of the tabs down so that no burr is left. Bend straight edges in a bender or between two razor blades, not with your fingers. Glue with thin superglue applied with a pin; on larger areas a glue with a longer working time helps. Spray painted parts only after bending, otherwise the paint cracks on the edge. Before gluing a part into the model, always try it dry to see whether it fits — in large scales every inaccuracy shows.

Who the set is for

  • Builders of models of jet aircraft in 1:32 scale
  • Modelers who want to get the accessories in one pack instead of piece by piece
  • More experienced builders with experience of photo-etched parts
  • Those who want to finish a model with the cockpit or the access panels open

This is a set of accessories, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package. Please check that the set matches your particular kit before buying.

FAQ

It is not. Big Ed is a pack of accessories, used with an F-100F Super Sabre kit in 1:32 scale that you have already bought.

The accessories for this model are divided into two parts. This item is the first of them, and the second is a separate item.

You do not, as each can be used on its own. Together, though, they cover the model more completely.

Working with photo-etched parts calls for a sharp knife, a bender and patience. It is not the ideal choice for a first build.
