The 1:32 North American F-100F Super Sabre undercarriage photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer Eduard sharpens up the landing gear and the gear bays of a model of the two-seat Super Sabre.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of photo-etched metal parts for detailing the landing gear area of the 1:32 F-100F model. It is made by the Czech company Eduard, a long-standing specialist in photo-etched accessories. The gear legs, the bays and their surroundings are among the places where large scales show the difference between a coarse plastic molding and thin metal most clearly.
The F-100F is the two-seat variant of the North American F-100 Super Sabre, the first American production fighter capable of supersonic flight without diving. The aircraft sat on a nosewheel landing gear with fairly sturdy legs, because it carried a considerable fuel load. The gear bays and their inner walls are clearly visible on large models, which is the main reason why photo-etched sets concentrate exactly here.
Most parts in landing gear sets need accurate right-angle folds. The safest route is a photo-etch bending tool: the part is clamped between the jaws exactly on the fold line and bent in one smooth movement. Never bend the metal back and forth, because it cracks along the fold. If you do not have a bending tool, two razor blades or a steel rule and flat tweezers will do. Etched parts often leave the factory harder than is ideal for folding; some modelers find it helps to warm the part briefly over a flame and let it cool, which softens the metal. Always try the procedure out on a scrap piece of fret.
The set is an accessory for a kit, not a model in its own right. The kit, glue and paints have to be bought separately, unless stated otherwise.
