Montex 1:32 P-40F is a masking set for modelers, not a model and not a kit. The self-adhesive masks are cut to the glazing of the Trumpeter kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of self-adhesive masks in 1:32 scale for modelers who already have the matching kit. It is not a model; the package holds only masks cut to the shape of that kit's glazing. You use them before spraying the camouflage, so that the clear areas stay untouched and the frames come out crisp and even.
The Curtiss P-40F differed from the other versions in its powerplant: instead of the Allison engine it carried a Rolls-Royce Merlin built under license. The change showed on the outside as well, because the typical carburetor air intake on the upper side of the nose disappeared and the contour of the nose was simplified. The aircraft were deployed above all in the Mediterranean and in North Africa. The difference in the nose is clearly apparent in a large scale and it shows in the kits too, which handle it with separate parts.
The masks keep their tack best if the sheet is stored flat, in the dry and out of direct sunlight. A warped or overheated sheet loses adhesion and the mask then will not hold on a curve of the glazing. Before laying them down, degrease the clear parts with alcohol or with a detergent and let them dry completely; grease from your fingers is the most common reason paint seeps under. If a mask still fails to adhere somewhere, press it down with a blunt tip and let it settle for a few minutes before you start spraying.
This is an accessory for a model, not a kit. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
