A decal sheet for a model of the P-47D fighter in the razorback version in 1:32 scale, with subjects connected to the fighting over New Guinea. This is the first volume of the series.
Responsibility details are not available.
The P-47D Thunderbolt was one of the heaviest single-engine fighters of the Second World War. It was powered by a piston radial engine and supercharged by a turbocharger housed in the rear of the fuselage, with long ducting running to it from the engine; the bulky fuselage of the aircraft is precisely a consequence of that. The designation razorback became established for the earlier version with the raised spine behind the cockpit and a framed canopy, that is, for the machines from before the bubble canopy was introduced.
The sheet is listed for 1:32 scale and for the razorback version, and in theme it is tied to the fighting over New Guinea. The abbreviation at the end of the name distinguishes the first volume of the series, which further sheets with the same subject follow on from. In the tropics the machines carried conspicuous unit markings and personal artwork, which come into their own nicely in a large scale. The list of the particular aircraft and their color schemes is given by the manufacturer in the instructions enclosed with the sheet.
A decal sheet on its own is supplied, for building a model. The kit, paints, clear coats and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
