Glazing masks for the hulking American P-47D fighter-bomber in 1:32 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Republic P-47D weighed almost as much fully loaded as a twin-engine bomber of the early 1930s. A turbocharger hidden in the fuselage gave it performance at great altitudes, eight machine guns in the wings a devastating volume of fire, and its robust structure the reputation of a machine that comes back even with a piece of its tail shot away. Toward the end of the war it flew mainly low, against trains and columns.
Under one letter this type hides two designs of glazing that have almost nothing in common. The older form has a high spine behind the pilot and a framed sliding hood above the cockpit, completed by glazed panels at the sides of the spine. The later form received a cut-down spine and, in place of the hood, a one-piece teardrop canopy without frames that slides back along its whole length. The first variant means many small frames, the second one large smooth area. When getting the mask, take a look at the clear parts in your box first, because shapes for one form will not fit the other.
The set holds masking shapes for the outer surface of the glazing as well as for its inner side. Neither insignia nor decals come with it; this is the manufacturer's plainest line and it deals with the glazing alone.
The basis was the model offered in 1:32 by Revell. The title gives only the P-47D designation without specifying the form, so compare the shape of the canopy on the parts you have at home before buying.
