A set of cut self-adhesive masks for a model of the Panavia Tornado in the ECR version in 1:32 scale from the Czech manufacturer Eduard, in the TFace form. This designation is established with the manufacturer and means that the package contains masks for the outer as well as the inner side of the clear parts. The frames can thus be sprayed in the interior shade from the inside and in the covering color from the outside, without paint getting onto the glass itself. That is precisely what sets the set apart from the basic version, which masks only one side. At the large 1:32 scale, with its long two-seat canopy, the inner side of the glazing is clearly visible, so double-sided masking makes practical sense. The set is cut for a particular kit, so check before buying that it matches the model you are building.
The Panavia Tornado is a twin-engine combat aircraft with a variable-sweep wing, developed in international cooperation and built in several specialized versions. The ECR form is intended for electronic combat and reconnaissance and carries the corresponding equipment for locating and evaluating sources of radio emission. The crew consists of two members seated one behind the other, which the busy canopy with its several sections matches. At a large scale both the division of the frames and the detail of the two stations come into their own.
Wash the clear parts and let them dry. First stick the inner masks on and spray the interior shade of the frames, and only then fit the outer masks and apply the covering color. Press each mask with a soft stick around the whole perimeter; it is precisely the pressure that decides how crisp the edge is. Spray the paint in thin coats, as a heavy coat runs underneath. Take the outer masks off before the finish has fully cured, and the inner ones right at the very end, just before the part is fitted to the model.
This is a masking set, not a model of an aircraft. The kit and paints are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
