This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer AML brings a seat harness intended for models of the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 in the A and F versions in 1:32 scale. Unlike universal sets, this one is designed directly for the seat of the Fw 190, so the lengths of the straps and the placing of the buckles match the particular aircraft.
The cockpit of the Fw 190 is fairly tight and the seat is its dominant feature, as practically all of it is visible with the canopy slid back. Kits often deal with the belts by nothing more than relief molded into the seat, or they leave them out altogether. A thin photo-etched part with detailed buckles solves that compromise elegantly, and looking into the cockpit it is one of the most visible details of the whole model, especially in the large 1:32 scale.
Separate the parts with a sharp knife on a hard surface and level any burrs with a fine file. Anneal the belts so that they soften, shape them over a brush handle and glue them with cyanoacrylate glue. Painting: primer, a flat shade for the straps, metal buckles, a dark wash into the structure and fine dry brushing of the edges. Belts laid loosely over the edge of the seat add to the authenticity of a model.
