A photo-etched seat harness for Soviet Lavochkin fighters in 1:32 scale from the Czech manufacturer AML — a fine seat detail for large models of Eastern Front aircraft.
Responsibility details are not available.
This photo-etched set from the Czech manufacturer AML holds a seat harness for Soviet Lavochkin fighters from the period of the Second World War in 1:32 scale. Soviet Eastern Front equipment is among the popular subjects, and it is precisely on large models that the cockpit decides the overall impression; a harness with finely drawn buckles is its natural centerpiece.
Soviet fighters used a simpler harness system than western aircraft, which makes it all the more important that it should look convincing on a model, as belts catch the eye at once in a half-empty cockpit. Photo-etching guarantees a constant width of the straps and a crisp rendering of the buckles, which you will not achieve by painting or with a paper substitute. Once shaped, the belts drape naturally with the seat, or they can be left thrown carelessly over it as they used to be on parked aircraft.
Anneal the photo-etched part first and it will be more pliable. Separate the parts with a sharp knife, glue them with drops of cyanoacrylate glue and, before painting, degrease them and give them a coat of primer. Paint the straps in a flat fabric shade and set the fittings apart with a metal color; a dark wash and fine dry brushing add depth. Painting is easier if you start before gluing them into the cockpit.
This is a photo-etched accessory, not an aircraft kit. The exact number of parts on the fret follows the manufacturer's current release.
