An Aber 1:32 set of two barrels for the German 20 mm MG 151/20 aircraft cannons are turned metal parts replacing the plastic barrels. A detail accessory, not a kit of an airplane.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of turned metal barrels in 1:32 scale from the Polish brand Aber. It is a detail accessory to models of German Second World War aircraft, not a kit of an airplane. A metal barrel has a genuinely drilled muzzle and an exactly circular cross section, which on a weapon of 20 mm caliber in a scale this large markedly changes the overall impression. Plastic parts tend to be split and cleaning them up is slow and never turns out quite right.
The MG 151/20 was a German 20 mm aircraft cannon from the Mauser works, derived from the 15 mm variant. It became the most widespread weapon of this caliber in the Luftwaffe in the Second World War. It was mounted in the engine installation of fighters as a so-called Motorkanone firing through the propeller hub, in the wing roots and in underwing pods, with which the armament against bombers was reinforced.
Cut off the plastic barrel and open the hole in the cowling or the pod out with a hand drill so that the metal part goes in without force. Once degreased, glue it with cyanoacrylate glue and check that the barrel points exactly along the axis. Give the metal a base coat before painting, then use a dark gunmetal shade. The transition between the metal barrel and the plastic part can be leveled if needed with a small drop of filler and fine abrasive paper.
The set is an accessory to a kit; the model of the airplane itself is not included in the package. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
