British fighters at first had the layout of their blotches prescribed so precisely that it existed in two versions: pattern A and its mirror image. They alternated piece by piece on the production line, so two aircraft of the same squadron could have the colors on their wings the other way round. In 1941 this meticulousness was abandoned and a single variant remained, so anyone building an earlier machine should find out which half it belongs to.
The second thing this type shows well is the character of the boundary between the fields. British practice rested on rubber templates laid on the skin, so the transition was hard and legible, with at most a millimeter of softening. That is the exact opposite of the soft sprayed transition carried by machines on the other side of the front. In 1:32 scale that difference is picked out at once and it is one of the few details that decides the credibility of a model from a distance.
The canopy framing is cut for the outer and the inner face of the glass, the roundels can be sprayed using two stencils and the markings are completed by the decals enclosed. The stencils are applied to a cured gloss surface and are lifted before the paint has hardened completely.
In photographs, watch where the boundary runs across the wing, because that is where the two versions of the pattern differ most conspicuously.
