1:48 Yakovlev UT-1B is a plastic kit of the armed version of the Soviet single-seat trainer from Mikro Mir.
Responsibility details are not available.
A short-run injection-molded kit of a small single-seat aircraft in the UT-1B version, that is, in the armed conversion. The 1:48 scale gives even so small a type a reasonable model size and room for cockpit detail. With short-run moldings, expect dry-fitting and small reworking.
The UT-1 was a single-seat trainer of the 1930s, structurally a simple low-wing monoplane of mixed construction with fixed landing gear and a low-powered radial engine. It served for advanced pilot training. The UT-1B version came about as a conversion for carrying light armament and was deployed in limited numbers in the first years of the war, especially with naval aviation. It was an improvised solution based on available equipment, not a purpose-designed combat aircraft.
First finish and paint the open cockpit; on small aircraft practically everything is visible from it. Dry-fit the wing and the fuselage and prepare any gaps for puttying in advance. It is a good idea to glue the fixed landing gear on only after the underside is painted, otherwise it gets in the way. The fabric and plywood surfaces of period aircraft should not be mirror-glossy; go rather for a semi-matte finish. Separate the small armament parts with a sharp blade and glue them with a minimum of adhesive.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
