An injection-molded plastic kit of the SBD-5 / A-24B Dauntless in 1:32 scale from Trumpeter - the American dive bomber of the Second World War.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Douglas SBD-5 dive bomber, and of its land-based A-24B version, in the large 1:32 scale from Trumpeter. The large scale stands out on the detailed two-seat cockpit and on the characteristic perforated airbrakes on the wing trailing edges. The set usually allows both the naval SBD-5 and the land-based A-24B to be built; the exact contents of the box and the number of marking options are not stated here.
The Douglas SBD Dauntless was the key carrier dive bomber of the US Navy and became famous above all in the Battle of Midway. The SBD-5 version was the most numerously produced variant and received a more powerful engine. The land-based A-24B, operated by the US Army Air Forces, differed from the naval version above all in its larger tail wheel and in the absence of the arrestor hook for deck landings.
Paint and accentuate the richly broken-up two-seat cockpit before closing the fuselage. Mask the clear glazing before spraying. Glue the parts with liquid cement for plastic, apply a primer and the paints with an airbrush; put the decals on over a gloss clear coat and bring out the panel lines with a wash. With its large sets Trumpeter often supplies rubber tires and small photo-etched parts to refine the detail; the tires can be replaced with resin ones for a more accurate shape.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
