A figure of a US Air Force combat pilot in 1:32 scale. It stands next to an aircraft model or in a diorama and gives the scene a sense of scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An aircraft model on its own gives away nothing about how big it is. As soon as a human being stands beside it, the viewer sees it at once: the height of the figure lets him measure the cockpit, the landing gear and the wing. A pilot figure moreover brings a story into the display case. The machine stops being an object and becomes an aircraft that someone is just walking up to or away from.
The subject is a combat pilot of the US Air Force. The 1:32 scale means that an adult figure comes out at just under six centimeters, that is enough for the folds of the flight suit, the straps of the gear and the helmet to show. In this scale a figure is painted in parts and it pays to give it time, because it stands in plain view next to a much larger model. How the figure is broken up and what the delivery holds are stated by the manufacturer on the box.
Wash and degrease the parts before painting, otherwise the paint runs and will not hold on smooth surfaces. Spray a base coat and only work with color on top of it. Go from the large surfaces to the small items and leave the face for last, because it decides the whole impression. Bring the folds and straps out with a dark wash and lighten the edges with a dry brush instead. Before you glue the figure down, stand it dry in place and check that it stands upright and looks where it should; a leaning figure spoils even a well built model.
This is a figure on its own for building a model or a diorama. The aircraft model, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
