A sheet of self-adhesive masks cut to the shape of the wheels of the twelve-ton Sd.Kfz. 8 half-track tractor. It is not a model or a set of replacement parts — the set serves solely to keep the rubber tire band separated from the rim while spraying. The masks match the wheels from the kit by Trumpeter.
Road wheels of this category of equipment tend to have a projecting hub cap in the middle. That causes two difficulties when masking: self-adhesive film will not seat flat on it and paint gathers easily under the dome. The proven routine is to settle the mask on the outer edge of the wheel first, where precision is what counts, and only then press it down toward the middle — any rippling is thus pushed into places where it does not affect the result. The hub cap itself is usually metal, so it is sprayed along with the rim; lay the paint on it square from above, not at a slant, or a dark shadow will form under its edge from the spot the spray did not reach.
The package contains masks only. The kit, paints and thinners are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
