The VK 7201 is one of the German heavy tank designs of the Second World War period that never went beyond the project stage and were never built. It is therefore a subject known from design documentation, not a machine with an operational history. In modeling, such designs are built as a category of their own and have a steady following, because they offer unusual shapes and freedom in the choice of finish.
A long barrel of large caliber is a dominant feature on a model and every departure from the axis is visible. Widen the opening in the mantlet in small steps, test the barrel dry and check the seating from above and from the side while the glue has not yet set. Degrease the metal part beforehand with alcohol or mineral spirits and glue it with super glue; plastic cement does not hold on metal. Apply a primer intended for metal before painting. Because this is a design with no period photographs, you have a free hand in choosing the finish and the markings; it helps the result if you keep to schemes used on vehicles of a close period and hold the weathering in check.
