A set of scaled-down rounds for the 7.5 cm Kw.K.40 and Stu.K.40 guns in the L/43 and L/48 versions. The subject is the Nebelgranatpatrone smoke round. It is an accessory for figures, vehicles and dioramas, not a stand-alone model.
A smoke shell is not meant to destroy a target but to block the view. On impact it created a screen behind which a move into a firing position, a withdrawal from the enemy or the work of engineers could be covered; it could equally be used to blind an opponent on the next slope. A tank gun's combat load held only a few such rounds alongside the armor-piercing and high-explosive ones, so on a diorama they look natural precisely in small numbers. The abbreviations L/43 and L/48 in the name give the length of the barrel in calibers, not the caliber; both barrels fired the same 7.5 cm ammunition.
Cut the surplus material away with a sharp blade a little away from the part and sand the rest off. Wash and degrease the parts before painting so that the paint holds, and glue with a glue suitable for the material; on parts of this size cyanoacrylate works well. Smoke ammunition differed from the other types in its markings, so work from period documentation when painting. The kit, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
