A turned metal barrel 76.2 mm of the Ordnance Q.F. 17-pounder gun Mk. IV with a muzzle brake in 1:35 scale from the manufacturer Aber. A replacement for the plastic barrel on models of British vehicles.
Responsibility details are not available.
This is a turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber, supplemented with a muzzle brake. It replaces the plastic barrel of the British Ordnance Q.F. 17-pounder gun of 76.2 mm in the Mk. IV variant. It is not a model of a vehicle but a detail accessory for a more faithful rendering of the conspicuously long barrel.
The British 17-pounder gun of 76.2 mm was among the most effective Allied armor-piercing weapons of the Second World War. In the Mk. IV variant it was adapted for installation in the turret of a medium tank, which produced the most heavily armed Allied variant of the Sherman type. The long barrel with its muzzle brake was so conspicuous that in practice it was disguised with a two-tone finish, so that the vehicle could not be told apart at a distance.
A long barrel is sensitive to the axis, so fit it dry and check it from the side and from above. Cut off the plastic part at the cradle and level the opening. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) on a degreased surface and undercoat the metal with a base coat meant for metals. Paint the muzzle brake carefully, so that the openings do not get clogged.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and the base kit are not included in the package.
