1:35 9K37M1 Buk is a masking set for the road wheels of the tracked carrier of the anti-aircraft system. It separates the rubber tire band from the wheel rim during painting.

A set of masks for painting the road wheels of the tracked chassis of the 9K37M1 Buk anti-aircraft missile system in 1:35 scale. This is not a kit or a replacement part, but an aid for the painting stage: the mask covers the wheel rim and you spray the tire band on its own. The set is cut for the kit from Meng.
The carrier of the Buk system stands on a tracked chassis derived from the family of chassis for heavy self-propelled systems rather than from a tank. The difference is apparent at once: the road wheels are large in diameter, sit at a long spacing and the upper run of the track is led over their tops, because the chassis has no return rollers. The running gear is also not hidden behind armor plates as on battle tanks, so the wheels are visible in full from the side. For the modeler that means two things. First, every tire band is a detail in its own right that the viewer will examine, not just a dark strip in the gloom under a fender. Second, the large diameter of the disc means a long circumference to the border between rubber and metal — and the longer the line, the sooner a hand-held brush shows on it as an irregularity. The drive sprocket has no rubber tire band and the masks do not belong on it.
Large wheels are easier to hold than small ones, and that is exactly why they tempt you into working in your fingers — and a greasy fingerprint under a mask is a certain source of bleeding. Better to degrease the wheels, let them dry and spike them on skewers. Lift a mask off the sheet with a needle, transfer it with fine-tipped tweezers and press it down around the circumference with a blunt toothpick, not with a fingernail. Before you reach for the airbrush, go over all the wheels through a magnifier under side lighting; you are looking for a shadow in the gap between the mask and the tire band. Work in batches: mask every wheel, spray every wheel, unmask every wheel. Jumping between the steps is the commonest reason one wheel ends up without its second coat. Apply the paint thinly, so no ridge forms at the edge of the mask.
This is an accessory for a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
