A turned metal detail accessory in 1:35 scale from the Polish maker Aber. The package holds two pieces of a double pulley, that is a block fitted with two guide sheaves side by side. Compared with a single pulley it allows the cable to be run several times over, and so to express a real block and tackle with a mechanical advantage on a model and in a diorama. It is not a kit of a vehicle but a separate part.
A double pulley belongs where heavy loads are really lifted - on the crane jibs of repair and engineer vehicles, on the block and tackle of field workshops, on ship deck equipment and on construction machinery. It also comes into its own on recovery rigs, where the cable passes over several pulleys. The two pieces in the package are enough for one complete block and tackle with two blocks or for two separate places in a scene.
Separate the part with a fine file or a cutting disc, not with nippers. Degrease the metal with alcohol before painting and use a metal primer. The greatest effect comes when you really thread the cable through - use thin copper wire or braided steel wire and run the cable through both sheaves the way it would run in reality. Then bring the grooves out with a dark wash, suggest polishing on the edges with graphite and add a fine rust pigment where the cable touches.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. Glue, paints and cable are not included in the package.
