The Sd.Kfz. 251 was a German half-track armored personnel carrier of the Second World War, and the 251/1 form carried infantry. The letter D marks the late production variant with a simplified body: straight sides without a break, a sloped one-piece rear and equipment bins built directly into the sides of the superstructure. The hull stayed open at the top, so the fighting compartment is clearly visible on a finished model and its fittings cannot be hidden.
This is an add-on set focused on the floor of the fighting compartment, the area an open vehicle has permanently in view. The designation vol. 6 and the word additional in the name say that the set follows on from the basic set of the same range and deals with a narrower group of details; on its own it therefore does not cover the build. The exact list of parts, their placement and the kit the photo-etched sheet is cut to fit are given in the manufacturer's instructions; check them before you build.
Try the large photo-etched surfaces dry in the hull first and only then start gluing them; once the sheet is tacked down in one corner there is no straightening it. Separate the parts with a sharp blade on a hard surface and sand the remains of the tab smooth. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue in minute drops. Before painting, wash and degrease the sheet and use a primer, as paint rubs off bare metal. Paint and dirty the floor before you fit the seats and the equipment, because afterwards you will not reach the bottom.
The photo-etched set is supplied on its own. The kit, glue and paints are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
