This detail set from the Polish firm Aber for 1:35 scale holds turned metal cleaning rods (rods for cleaning the barrel) completed with photo-etched mounts and brackets. It is neither a model nor a kit of a tank, but a finishing accessory that replaces the simplified plastic parts on the hull and the fenders. The set is intended for models of the Tiger I and the King Tiger.
On the real tanks the barrel cleaning rods were carried in bundles fastened by mounts on the hull or the fenders. The metal version captures the thin rods and the fine brackets faithfully, which in plastic look coarse. The combination of turned rods and photo-etched mounts gives a realistic, fine result.
Separate the photo-etched mounts with a sharp knife and shape the bends with a bending tool or with tweezers. Shorten the turned rods to the right length if necessary. Glue everything with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Degrease the brass and spray it with primer before painting. Work in a well-ventilated room.
This is a finishing accessory for advanced modelers. The product itself is neither a model nor a kit, and the base model of the tank is not included in the package.
