Eduard 1:35 bridge signs - painting masks

A set of self-adhesive painting masks from the Czech maker Eduard in kabuki paper (washi). It contains stencils for spraying bridge signs (signs of the weight class) on a plastic model of military equipment in 1:35 scale. This is an accessory for painting which makes realistic sprayed markings possible instead of decals.

The real subject

Military vehicles carried signs stating the load that the vehicle represents for crossing a bridge. By them, units could plan movements safely across bridges of limited capacity. The signs tended to be placed in a clearly visible spot on the front of the vehicle.

Use and tips

• Lay the stencil on the place where the bridge sign is to appear.
• Press the edges down carefully, so that paint does not run under the mask.
• Apply the paint in thin coats with an airbrush.
• Take the mask off before the paint has hardened completely.
