An injection-molded plastic kit of the modern British light all-terrain carrier in the variant adapted for carrying the wounded on stretchers. It is a classic kit in hard polystyrene that the modeler assembles and paints himself. The particular number of parts, the extent of the interior and the number of color schemes offered are given on the box and in the manufacturer's instructions.
The abbreviation ATMP stands for All Terrain Mobile Platform. It is a small, low and light vehicle with a high ability to get across country, developed for the British armed forces. Its purpose is to carry a load, equipment or the wounded where an ordinary cross-country car cannot get, and to stay small and light enough for air transport and for slinging under a helicopter all the same. The medical conversion with mounts for stretchers serves to evacuate the wounded from places an ambulance cannot reach.
Cut the small parts off the sprues with a sharp knife or with sprue cutters and clean the area of the gate up with a file, so that no stub is left. Glue with a thin cement for polystyrene, which wicks into the seam by capillary action; the finest accessories hold better on a drop of super glue. Before painting, apply a filler primer, so that the paint holds on the edges too and any imperfect seams show up. It is sensible to finish the running gear and the chassis before the body is closed. The result is lifted a great deal by a dark wash run into the recesses and by dry pigments for mud and dust effects around the wheels and in the wheel arch.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
