An accessory set of cast fuel cans of American equipment in 1:35 scale, rendered with deformations and knocks. It is neither a model of a vehicle nor a part of one — the cans are added to a finished model, to crew equipment or into a supply scene in a diorama.

How American cans differ

An American and a European fuel can are not interchangeable in shape: they differ in the profile of the walls, the design of the closure and the number and shape of the handles. On a model that is plainly evident, so it is right to reach for a set matching the vehicles you are building. On Allied vehicles from both the western and the Pacific theaters you will find cans practically everywhere — on fenders, on the beds of trucks and stacked at supply points.

Usage and painting tips

• Wash the castings in warm water with detergent, so that the paint holds.
• Cut the casting remnants, do not break them — on thin edges there is a risk of chipping detail off.
• Paint the cans separately off the model; access to every wall is then markedly easier.
• Deal with lettering and markings using dry transfers or a fine brush, only after the base color and a gloss intermediate coat.
• Bring the dents out with a wash and wear the edges and handles with a dry brush or a graphite pencil.
