The ELEFANT addition is intended for a model of the German medium tank Pz.Kpfw. III in the Ausf. G version and according to the name the contents are enough for three vehicles. It is not a kit of the tank but a set of details you fit to a model already bought. The higher number of vehicles in the package makes practical sense for anyone building a column or a group of machines for a diorama who does not want to buy the same set three times. The exact make-up of the set is stated on the box.
The Ausf. G version stands in the middle of the type's development and differs from both the early and the later configurations in details that are plainly visible on a model: in the arrangement of the external stowage, in small covers and mountings. Injection-molded plastic necessarily simplifies these features, because a mold allows neither too thin a wall nor undercut shapes. An addition cast by a different technology can afford a finer rendering, and so the difference shows above all in the outline of the edges and in the legibility of small shapes close up. The set is marked with a particular version, which matters with this type, because not every detail holds across all the Ausf.
Before work, wash the castings in lukewarm water with detergent and let them dry perfectly. Cut the casting blocks off with a saw or a sharp knife, never snap them, and sand the surface back wet; protect your breathing while sanding. Glue with super glue, as cement for plastic does not hold on resin. Lay out the work so that the added features get onto the model before the primer and the painting, otherwise they will read as a foreign piece after weathering. If you are building several vehicles at once, sort the parts out beforehand by vehicle into separate dishes, and you will save yourself hunting and mix-ups.
