Dragon teeth are concrete pyramids or truncated blocks set in several rows one behind another and fixed firmly into the ground. Their task is to stop, or at least slow, tracked and wheeled vehicles: a vehicle either gets stuck on them or is forced to look for a way round and so expose itself to fire from positions prepared in advance. They were used as part of fortified lines and obstacle belts, and their remains can still be seen in the European landscape today. For modelers they are rewarding above all because they turn a simple scene into a particular place with a story at once.
Clean up the castings, wash them in warm water with detergent and spray primer. Concrete is not painted in one color — add irregular patches in warmer and cooler shades to a light gray base so that the surface does not look like plastic. A dark wash will emphasize the chipped edges and the joints of the formwork, while a dry brush pulls out the sharp corners. Vertical traces of running water, a greenish tint at the base and a little moss or grass between the blocks add a great deal of credibility. The seating is crucial: the teeth have to be sunk into the ground and tilted slightly, not stood on the surface of a base. Irregular spacing and one or two toppled pieces will give the scene a natural look.
This is a diorama accessory, not a kit. Paints, glue and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. When sanding the castings, do not inhale the dust.
