A resin detail accessory from the manufacturer ELEFANT in 1:35 scale. It replaces the covers of the engine air inlets on the StuG III assault gun in its G version and brings them with the weld beads modeled. It is not a vehicle model and not a conversion set, but one specific area that you swap for a plastic part during the build.
The engine of the vehicle drew in air for cooling and for combustion through openings in the rear of the hull, which were covered by sheet-metal parts with welded edges. The weld is exactly where injected plastic runs into its technological limits: the bead is either simplified into a smooth ramp, or the parting line of the mold cuts through it and it gets sanded away during clean-up. A resin casting is formed without regard to the direction of the ejector, so it holds a three-dimensional, irregular weld and a crisp sheet edge. On a finished model this is an area clearly visible from above and it decides the impression of the whole engine deck.
Cut the part off the casting block with a saw, level the surface on abrasive paper on glass and keep trying the fit dry before you reach for the glue. Degrease it in warm water with detergent and let it dry, and only then the primer. It is glued with cyanoacrylate glue, ideally the gel type, so that there is time to true it up. Fill any seam against the plastic and sand it so that the weld stays untouched. When painting, leave the weld bead a shade darker and once dry bring it out with a thin wash; apply dust and mud to the edges rather than to the middle of the surface.
The accessory is supplied unpainted and it is not a kit in its own right. Paints, glue and the base model are not included in the package.
