Feifel air cleaner tubes for the early Tiger I in 1:35 scale from Aber. A metal accessory for a kit, not a kit.
Responsibility details are not available.
This metal set in 1:35 scale represents the ducting of the Feifel air cleaners for a model of the early German Tiger I heavy tank in the Ausf. E version. It is not a kit but an accessory with which the plastic parts on the rear of the model are replaced. A plastic tube has thick walls and a solid end, whereas the metal version has the correct thickness and an open section, which is very conspicuous on this part of the vehicle.
Early Tigers received a pair of cylindrical air cleaners on the rear plate of the hull with ducting led to the engine. The system was meant to protect the engine in dusty conditions and was intended above all for service in Africa and in the south of the Eastern Front. In practice it proved of little use and complicated maintenance, so it was dropped during production. The presence of the cleaners is therefore one of the clues by which an early Tiger is recognized.
Degrease the metal parts with alcohol and apply a primer, otherwise paint will not hold. Bend the tubes gradually and over a larger radius so that the section is not crushed. Dry-fit before gluing to check that the ducting sits on the mounting points at the rear of your particular model, and only then glue it with super glue. It pays to paint the cleaners and the ducting before gluing them on, because maneuvering a brush around them is hard.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
