It is not a kit or a decal: it is a printed sheet with fig tree leaves, that is with the characteristic lobed shape that places a scene unmistakably in a Mediterranean or subtropical setting. The make-up of the sheet and the number of leaves can be found on the packaging.
A fig leaf has an intricate outline and it is precisely that which gives the most work when cutting. It pays to work on a hard cutting mat with a fresh blade and to go around the lobes with short strokes from the tip toward the base of the leaf; on a shape this intricate scissors crush the edges. If you are going to need a larger number of leaves, cut them in small batches and change the blade before it goes blunt rather than after – a blunt blade does not cut paper cleanly and the edge frays.
Paper ages differently from plastic in a scene: humidity in the air and sunlight both harm it. So spray the finished vegetation with matte clear coat from a distance in two thin coats. Matte clear coat at the same time takes away the characteristic sheen of the print, which gives the paper away at first glance in a photograph, and unifies the foliage with the surrounding scene. Before clear coating, darken the white cut edges with pastel or acrylic in the shade of the leaf. Handle the gluing with PVA or matte glue, as super glue leaves stains on a print.
The accessory is supplied as a printed sheet. Glue, paints, clear coat and wire are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
