A tiled floor motif in 1:35 scale for dioramas. It takes the place of the lengthy marking out and cutting of individual tiles.
Responsibility details are not available.
The interior of a diorama stands or falls with the floor. Tiling has a regular pattern, so the eye reveals skewed joints and tiles of unequal size at once, and making such an area by hand takes more time than all the rest of the scene. A ready-made floor motif cuts the work down to laying it out, fixing it and cleaning up the edges.
A floor motif of tiling in 1:35 scale. This scale is the most widespread with dioramas featuring figures and military machinery, so the area combines easily with other accessories of the same size. The dimensions of the area, the number of pieces and the recommended way of fixing are stated in the manufacturer's instructions. Use them to work out in advance how much area your scene needs, including an allowance for cuts.
Plan the scene out dry first: put the figures and the machinery in place and only then decide where the edge of the floor will run. A firm and flat board belongs under a floor, because every unevenness and even a speck of dust will print through into the surface. Make the cuts along a rule with a sharp blade and preferably in several shallow strokes. Cover the edges at the walls with a strip or with rubble; the joint then disappears and the scene looks natural. Choose the surface finish and the glue according to the material of the part and the manufacturer's instructions and try them in advance on an offcut.
It will be appreciated by builders of dioramas who want a believable interior without laboriously marking out tiles. Figures, machinery, paints and glue are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
