A plastic kit of the Y-wing machine in 1:72 scale by the German brand Revell, listed as a Gift Set package. The subject is among the most popular machines from the world of Star Wars, and in this scale it makes a decently large model with a markedly broken surface.
The Y-wing is a machine with a long central fuselage, a cockpit moved forward and a pair of nacelles carried at the sides. Typical is the uncovered rear section, where the inner structure and the piping are visible; it is precisely this detail that makes the Y-wing a rewarding subject for modelers who like working with paint, shades and wear.
Build and paint the uncovered areas before you cover them with the surrounding parts, otherwise you will not get at them later. With the inner structure it pays first to spray a dark base, then to lighten it from above and finally to accentuate it with a dark wash, so that depth arises. The outer surfaces will take work with the shades of the individual panels, because in modeling the subject is traditionally built as a heavily used and worn machine. Before the decals, varnish the surface with a gloss coat, and once dry unify the model with a matte varnish; a matte surface becomes this subject best.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
