Gas bottles-big 1:35 — large gas cylinders for a diorama

Large industrial gas cylinders of the kind you meet in every workshop, store or on the bed of a supply vehicle. It is not a model of a vehicle but a resin diorama accessory in 1:35 scale from the production of the Czech manufacturer Plusmodel. Gas cylinders are among the most universal props of all; they work in a military as well as a civilian scene and in almost any period from the first half of the twentieth century to the present.

Use on a diorama

Stand the cylinders by the wall of a workshop next to a welding station, load them on the bed of a vehicle as cargo, or leave them lying about in an abandoned store. In combination with other workshop accessories from Plusmodel a complete set of service facilities arises. The cylinders are also a rewarding accent of color; their striking shades pleasantly break up the uniform green or gray of a military scene.

Building and painting tips

Wash the castings free of the mold release agent, cut the casting blocks off and glue any joints with cyanoacrylate glue; use protection for your airways while sanding. Paint the cylinders according to the type of gas, as various colors of the body and the neck are used in practice, and liven the surface up with scuffs, rust around the foot and abraded metal on the neck. A semi-matte varnish will give the cylinders the credible look of painted sheet metal.
