A photo-etched set from the manufacturer Aber in 1:35 scale for building an entrance gate, type A. It is neither a vehicle kit nor a figure, but a standalone diorama feature. From the fine photo-etched parts you build a faithful gate with hinges and a latch, which closes off the entrance to a yard, an enclosure or a compound.
A gate is a rewarding accessory for farm buildings, factory and military compounds and urban scenes of the Second World War. It completes a fence or a wall, closes off the composition of a diorama and gives a scene a story: an open gate lets equipment in, a closed one suggests a shut-off space. It can be built either open or closed.
Cut the photo-etched parts off the fret and clean them up, bending the fine hinges carefully. Degrease the metal, lay down a primer and paint with acrylics; the texture of metal or wood stands out with shading, a wash in the recesses and light rust or flaking paint. Use cyanoacrylate glue. The gate can be hung so that it actually opens.
The accessory is supplied unassembled and unpainted. The fence, glue, paints and a base are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
