A turned metal barrel in 1:35 scale from the Polish manufacturer Aber. It represents the German 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 tank gun in the one-piece form, that is, with the barrel tube made in a single piece, and it is intended for models of the standard tank E-50. It is not a model of a vehicle but a detail accessory: the metal barrel replaces the plastic one, keeps perfect straightness and has a hollow muzzle.
The E-50 belonged to the German Entwicklung development series, which at the close of the Second World War was to unify the production of armored vehicles into a few weight classes. The E-50 was intended as a medium to heavy standard tank following on from the Panther, but it never reached series production and stayed a project on paper. That is exactly why it is a rewarding subject for kits and for modeling conversions. The 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun with its very long barrel was among the most effective German tank weapons of that time.
Cut off the plastic barrel at the root, clean out the opening in the mantlet or the shield and push the metal part home. Degrease the metal with alcohol before gluing and roughen the mating surfaces lightly; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue). Lay a base coat meant for metals onto the metal parts, or the paint will hold poorly. The hollow muzzle stands out when you darken it lightly from inside with a soot shade. On a long barrel of this type check the alignment from several sides while gluing, as the slightest deviation shows up at once on a slender tube.
This is a detail accessory, not a complete model. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
