The set is a scenic material, not a model kit. The leaves are laser cut from fine paper and finished in green, that is for trees and bushes in full leaf. In 1:35 scale it is precisely the foliage that is one of the details by which a carefully built diorama is recognized, as plastic or foam substitutes read as coarse beside it.
Paper has the right thickness for the scale and can be worked like a real leaf: bent, waved, turned toward the light. The laser cut keeps the shape of the edge by which a species is recognized, and the color is part of the material, so the leaves do not have to be painted. The shade can afterward be evened out with the rest of the greenery in a scene with a light breath from an airbrush.
Prepare the framework of a tree or a bush from wire, string or ready-made plant material and lay the leaves onto it with tweezers in small groups. They are fixed with thinned PVA glue; do not use hair spray as a fixative, as it yellows in time. On the branches work from the tips toward the trunk and leave the leaves slightly irregularly spread, as perfectly even foliage looks artificial. Scatter a few leaves on the ground and on the equipment under the crown as well.
