The Arado Ar 196 was a German shipborne reconnaissance and patrol floatplane of the Second World War, powered by a radial engine. It served as a catapult aircraft on surface ships of the Kriegsmarine and from coastal bases for reconnaissance and patrol over the sea. Faithful exhaust stubs are among the visually prominent features of the engine area.
First wash the resin parts to remove mold release residue and separate them carefully from the casting block; sand with respiratory protection. Bond with super glue (cyanoacrylate). The exhausts come into their own when painted in metallic and rusty shades: a dark base, a dry brush and pigments work well for a scorched and smoky look.
