A photo-etched set of grilles in 1:35 scale for a model of the German super-heavy tank E-100.
Responsibility details are not available.
The E-100 was a German project for a super-heavy tank from the end of the Second World War, of which only the hull was ever part-built; the machine never entered service. That is exactly why it is a rewarding subject for modelers who want something on the shelf that never met anything in the field. Above the engine compartment such vehicles had large cooling openings covered with grilles, and on a model these are conspicuous, because they are looked at from above.
These are photo-etched grilles, that is, thin metal parts etched out of sheet, with which you replace the solid plastic grilles from the kit. The photo-etched metal is as thin as real sheet to scale, so the openings are open and the view from above gains a depth that an injected plastic part cannot offer. Which openings the set covers, and which kit it is drawn for, are given in the manufacturer's instructions.
Cut the parts out of the fret with a sharp blade on a hard surface, not with nippers, or the edge will ripple. Sand away the remains of the tabs. Make the bends over a straight edge or in a bending tool, always in one go and along the whole length. Degrease the metal before gluing; it is glued with cyanoacrylate glue applied in a small amount on the tip of a piece of wire. Metal holds paint less well than plastic, so start with a primer and only then apply the shade of the vehicle.
A photo-etched fret is supplied. The kit, paints, primer and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
