Photo-etched grilles for the Sd.Kfz. 181 Tiger I tank in 1:35 from the Polish manufacturer Aber is a set of photo-etched metal engine compartment grilles and protective screens. It is a detail accessory for a kit, not a model of a tank.
Responsibility details are not available.
A photo-etched metal set intended to replace the plastic grilles and protective screens over the engine compartment of the German heavy tank Tiger I. The photo-etched parts have a realistic thickness and stay see-through, so you can look under them into the hull; plastic grilles from kits always come across as a solid panel. The package holds photo-etched parts and fitting instructions. This is not a model of a vehicle but an accessory for a plastic kit in 1:35 scale.
The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of the Second World War with an 88 mm gun and heavy frontal armor. On the upper surface of the engine compartment it had large intake and outlet openings covered with grilles, which protected the cooling system from shell splinters and falling objects. This part of the hull is always on view on a model, and the way it is worked markedly affects the overall impression of a finished piece.
Cut or sand away the plastic grilles, clear out the openings in the hull and level the surface. Trim the photo-etched parts with a scalpel on a hard surface and make the bends in a bending tool or between two blades. Glue with cyanoacrylate glue (super glue) after degreasing. Before painting, lay a primer onto the metal. The structure of the grillework comes out beautifully after a dark wash, a careful dry brush and fine dust pigments.
The set is supplied unassembled and unpainted. It is a detail accessory for a plastic kit, not a model in its own right. The base kit, glue and paints are not included in the package.
