I Am Legend - Billboards and posters 1:35 — a printed accessory for a diorama

A sheet of printed billboards and posters in 1:35 scale from ETA diorama, thematically flavored toward an abandoned city. It is not a plastic kit or a waterslide decal — the motifs are cut out and glued onto the surfaces of a scene. The sheet is intended for adult collectors who build genre dioramas.

Composition in a scene

In a diorama a billboard is a large surface and as such it directs the viewer's eye. Set it up so that it leads the eye to the main model rather than competing with it — best of all in the second plane, slightly turned, partly hidden by a building or a tree. Make the supporting frames from plastic profiles and glue the paper onto them only at the end. Then place the smaller posters irregularly over the walls in the foreground, so that the scene has more planes.

Tips for gluing and weathering

• Back large areas with stiff card or a plastic sheet; paper on its own will buckle.
• Apply the glue over the whole undercoat and smooth the paper out from the middle outward.
• Peeled corners and cut tears suggest that a billboard has hung for a long time without maintenance.
• Add a wash and pigments mainly to the lower part of the surface, where the dirt collects.
• Matte clear coat unifies the sheen of the print with the surrounding diorama.

Who the sheet is for

For builders of urban and post-apocalyptic dioramas in 1:35 scale who want to get large-format advertising and posters into a scene. Also usable as a background for photographing a finished model.

It is a printed paper accessory for a diorama, not a kit and not a waterslide decal. Glue, paints and other accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
