FineMolds 1:35 JGSDF MBT Type 61 Upgraded is an injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese postwar Type 61 medium tank in its modernized form of the 1980s.

This detailed injection-molded kit from the Japanese manufacturer FineMolds captures the Type 61 tank in the equipment of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (JGSDF) in the so-called modernized (Upgraded) version. The package holds plastic parts, clear transparent elements, string for the tow cable, additional photo-etched parts and decals. The tracks are provided as a combination of individual links and longer runs.
The Type 61 was the first production tank developed in postwar Japan. It was built from 1961 to 1975 and equipped JGSDF units. It carried a 90 mm gun and its crew numbered four men. In the 1980s it went through partial changes to the turret, receiving among other things smoke grenade launchers, which this version captures.
Assemble and complete the running gear and the lower hull before you close the tub. Use thin modeling cement on the plastic and super glue on the photo-etched parts. The base is sprayed primer; for the final camouflage an airbrush works well, followed by washes and pigments for mud and dust effects.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
