Js Work - the Jumbo silicone mold, cobblestone paving 1:35

A flexible silicone mold in the enlarged Jumbo format, about 270 x 180 mm in size, meant for casting cobblestone paving in 1:35 scale. Irregularly laid stone setts are a typical surface of European towns and courtyards, so the mold will find a use in historical and modern scenes alike. It is not a kit but a tool that you use over and over.

A large area of casting means fewer parts in the scene. With an irregular pattern that is practical, because the transitions between individual castings are harder to hide than with a regular grid.

Use

• Pour the mixed plaster, putty or resin into the mold laid on a flat surface.
• Bubbles are driven out by lightly tapping it, or by running a brush over the bottom of the mold before pouring the rest of the mix in.
• Once it has set, bend the mold and take the casting out; the silicone does not stick and needs no release agent.
• Turn neighboring castings against one another, so that the irregular pattern of the setts does not repeat visibly.
• You will bring the joints between the setts out with a dark wash, and add dust with a dry pigment.

Who the mold is for

For modelers building dioramas and bases in 1:35 with a town street, a yard or a harbor edge. It pays off wherever a larger continuous area is needed or where you want to shape and break the surface up to your own design, which is not possible with finished sheets bought in.
