Most diorama objects can be put anywhere. Not this one: a cargo rack is built to the outline of one particular light off-road vehicle and outside it loses its point. That is exactly why it is valuable for a scene. An object that clearly belongs to one machine ties the vehicle to the scene more firmly than any number of crates scattered loose around it.
The package holds three resin parts and a photo-etched fret. The ratio is typical of this type of accessory: the supporting structure is made of castings, whereas the grating, the brackets and the straps are carried by the photo-etched parts, because those have to be thin so that the rack does not look like a crate.
An empty rack is just a holder. Filled, it starts to tell a story, and it can be filled from whatever a modeler has at home: a rolled shelter half, a jerrycan, a canvas bag, an ammunition box. The height of the load also changes the silhouette of the vehicle, which is useful when the vehicle is meant to be readable from a greater distance in the scene and not to merge with the background.
The castings are separated from the casting blocks, cleaned up and degreased. The photo-etched parts have to be bent over a sharp edge and glued with cyanoacrylate glue a drop at a time. Before attaching it, we recommend dry-fitting the rack to the model, because the seating depends on the particular kit. The vehicle, the load and paints are not in the package.
The photo-etched tie-down straps hold their shape better if they are briefly warmed before bending. Cold material tends to crack exactly at the line of the bend.
