A figure of a Kriegsmarine sailor of the Second World War in 1:35, for models of fast boats and one-man craft. The manufacturer's part number 350004.
Responsibility details are not available.
The German fast torpedo boats, designated Schnellboot, were long slender craft that attacked mainly at night and relied on speed. Their crews spent their watch on an open deck and in waterproof clothing. Alongside the boats the name of the item also gives one-man craft, that is the so-called human torpedoes; the Kriegsmarine deployed those at the close of the war along the coast and a single man made up their crew.
A figure of a sailor in 1:35 to complete a model of a vessel or a scene. The number of pieces and the particular pose are a matter of the manufacturer's packaging; the name does not specify them. A figure at this scale measures around five centimeters, so beside a model it works as a clear indication of size.
Cut the surplus material off with a sharp blade a little away from the figure, sand the remainder down gently and look the surface over against the light, as small irregularities are conspicuous once painted. Wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, degrease them and let them dry. Then lay down a base coat and paint from the broad tones to the details. With a sailor's clothing it pays to keep a muted palette and bring life into it only by lightening the edges and with a dark glaze in the folds. Leave the face and the hands for last. Even the finished figure out with a matte varnish.
For modelers who are building German fast craft or a scene from coastal waters in 1:35 and want to people them.
The model of the vessel, the paints and the glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
