A figure of a sailor of the Kriegsmarine of the Second World War in 1:35 scale, for models of fast boats and one-man craft. Product code AER350006.
Responsibility details are not available.
One-man craft, which came to be known as human torpedoes, were small attack weapons operated by a single man; the Kriegsmarine committed them in the last years of the Second World War in shallow coastal waters. Alongside them the name of the item also gives fast torpedo boats, in German Schnellboot, that is vessels intended for night attacks close to the coast. Both shared the same environment and the same crew equipment.
A figure of a sailor in 1:35 scale intended to complete a model or a scene. The number of pieces and the pose are given on the maker's packaging. In this scale an adult figure comes out at roughly five centimeters, so it is big enough for working up the face and the details of the clothing.
Cut the excess material off with a sharp blade a little away from the figure and carefully sand the remainder; a file cannot cut, so use a knife for the rougher work. Then wash the parts in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent, degrease them and let them dry. Paint over a base coat, otherwise the finish will rub off during handling. Work in layers from a darker glaze in the folds to lightened edges and blend the transitions while the paint is still wet. Leave the face and the hands until last. Unify the finished figure with matte varnish, so that the individual shades do not have different degrees of sheen.
For modelers building a scene with German coastal vessels in 1:35 scale, and for anyone who wants to try painting a figure in a larger scale.
The model of the vessel, paints and glue are not included in the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
