A masking accessory for painting wheels, not a kit and not replacement resin wheels. The set sets the boundary between the tire and the wheel disk, so you can spray each of the two parts in a different color and the transition stays sharp around the whole perimeter.
The set is cut for the wheels of the kit of this light passenger car from ICM. Wheel masks follow from the particular shape and diameter of a part, so they will not reliably fit a kit of another brand – before purchase, therefore, verify which kit you have.
The usual home solution is twofold: to cut a ring out of masking tape with a compass cutter, or to apply tape in short pieces around the perimeter. Both run into the same two difficulties. A circle cut by hand does not have the same radius around the whole perimeter, so the width of the exposed rubber varies. And a ring glued up from short sections has a jagged edge – at every join a microscopic step arises and the paint runs under exactly there. For every diameter of wheel you moreover have to find the setting of the cutter again, which on a vehicle with several sizes of wheel means a series of trials on rejects.
A ready-made mask leaves this part of the work out. The radius is given, the edge is unbroken and it is the same on the first and on the last wheel. The time you would spend on cutting and trying thus goes into the painting itself and almost nothing is left over for the subsequent cleaning up.
It is a masking accessory for modelers. The package holds neither a kit, wheels nor paints. Store the sheet flat and out of direct sunlight.
