Leaves of a tropical plant in 1:35 scale for building dioramas. An accessory for scenes from the tropics and subtropics.
Responsibility details are not available.
Vegetation decides whether a scene comes across as a particular place or as a model on a plinth. In the tropics that is doubly true: large leaves with a striking shape give the setting away sooner than anything else and at the same time give the scene scale, because the viewer subconsciously compares the size of a leaf with the size of a vehicle or a figure.
The set offers leaves of a tropical plant worked out for 1:35 scale. The individual leaves are separated from it as needed, so you put the growth together according to your own subject and are not tied to the finished shape of a bush.
Before fitting them, curve the leaves over a blunt point or between your fingers, so that they do not stay flat. In nature no leaf grows exactly straight, and it is precisely a slight curve that makes the greatest difference. Choose the colors unevenly: the upper side tends to be darker than the underside, and toward the edges the leaves pale and dry to brown. A minute drop of glue applied to the stalk of the leaf, not to its surface, will take care of the attachment, so that the edges stay free.
The accessory will be appreciated by builders of dioramas and vignettes from tropical and subtropical theaters as well as by authors of display scenes who are short of greenery to fill the foreground. When planning, though, consider how many leaves a scene will carry: dense growth in the foreground is striking, but it can easily cover the model the diorama was built for. The package holds only the leaves; a base, a model, figures, paints and glue are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
